WDW QSD Tournament Nobleman’s Region: Round 1 – Episode 500

WDW QSD Tourney Nobelman's Region - Round 1
Host: Aaron Rittmater
Panel: Terry Hawkins (Nobelman’s Region Captain), Jay Gilbert, Danny DiAngelo

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 500 episodes of the DISDads Podcast than to get the Walt Disney World Quick Service Dining Tournament rolling in earnest! This week, the panel takes on the first round matchups in the Nobelman’s Region, headed by top-seeded Earl of Sandwich. The tournament gets started right, with dominant performances by top seeds, surprising upsets, and even a couple of ties (which we’ll need YOUR help to resolve).

You can track the whole tournament at home using this spreadsheet.

Special thanks to Danny DiAngelo, co-host of Behind the Ears Podcast for his participation.

What did you think of the panel’s choices? did they get any of the winners wrong? Leave a comment here on the blog; Email us at podcast@disdads.com; tweet us at DisDadsPodcast on Twitter; and check out our DISDads Podcast Facebook page.

DAD Show #211 - Vegas, Baby! with Alan Fuller

The DAD Show continues it’s exploration outside of Disney Destinations this week, as Alan Fuller joins host Aaron Rittmaster to talk about a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate Joe’s birthday. Intermingled with the trip report, we get great tips from Alan about Las Vegas travel – places to stay, ways to find deals on food, lodging, and shows, and more. Oh, and he and Joe met Pat Benetar before her show!

Help us get the Quick Service Dining Plan Tournament Brackets Organized

Quick Service Dining Tournament LogoOption 1 would, of course, obviate the “contest” between the drafters, since they’d all end up with identical preliminary round “scores.”

Option 2 is just based on the numbers.

  • 14 Magic Kingdom locations are in
  • 13 Epcot locations
  • 13 Resort hotel locations
  • 12 Disney Springs locations
  • 7 Animal Kingdom theme park and 5 Hollywood Studios locations would be distributed to the other regions as “wild cards”

Option 3 is the mathematical solution. Just treat the draft order as the seeding order, and construct a huge “S-Curve” from Pick 1 to Pick 64. This has the advantage of evenly distributing each captain’s picks, but leaves each region without a clear collective identity.

How should we organize the Quick Service Dining Tournament Regions?

LIVE Podcast Sunday, May 7 at 7 p.m. CDT

Summer is arriving, and at the DISDads Podcast, that means tournament time!

Each summer since 2012, we’ve brought you a different elimination tournament, with a different method of setting and organizing the field, and we’re back at it again this year at 7:00 p.m. Central Time on Sunday, May 7, with our first-ever Walt Disney World Quick Service Dining Tournament. We’ll start with a full field of 64 quick service restaurants, progressively narrowing the field over the next several weeks, until we reach the championship rounds for the July 2, 2017 live show.

For this Sunday’s live show, host Aaron Rittmaster will be joined by Terry Hawkins, Josh Shusterman, David Juart and Justin West, who will serve as “captains.” During the show, the captains will each be selecting 16 quick service restaurant locations, which will serve as their “team” for the tournament. Remember – if you want to participate in the chat, you’ll need to register at DisTalkRadio.com – we’ll get those accounts approved as quickly as possible.
