I’m surprised Cuba wasn’t mentioned more as an additional destination trip for the next 5 years. Also, river cruises seem to be a popular these days. My parents loved they’re Rhine River cruise in Germany. Maybe a Mississippi River cruise to New Orleans on a steam boat themed ship?
I love those ideas Tim. I think the hesitation on Cuba in the short term is that it’s going to take some time to get the tourist infrastructure in place, and the rules for purely leisure travel are still unsettled. Disney has used the Adventures by Disney brand to get into the river cruise market already. They have a deal with one of the top river cruise lines, AMA Waterways, to run several Adventures by Disney cruises on the Rhine and Danube rivers in Europe. The supplement the existing AMA crew with AbD guides and shore experiences. It’s a small enough number of cruises that its clearly a bit of an experiment. The question remains whether it will continue to be an AbD product or whether it will eventually get rolled into DCL.
I meant to bring up the United States river cruise idea. How cool would a really well-themed Disney paddlewheel riverboat cruise be? There are currently two cruise lines that I know of doing American river cruises – American Queen Steamboat Company and American Cruise Lines.
