Hey Android fans! Google Play Music has finally added podcasts to its listings, and The DISDads Podcast is there for your listening pleasure. From now on, our podcasts should publish to Google Play Music simultaneously with publication to iTunes, Stitcher, and here on the website. Here’s where you can find us on Google Play Music.
It appears that Google Play Music will be listing our 100 most recent episodes. As always, you can find the complete catalog of DISDads Podcast shows here at the blog website. Google Play Music doesn’t appear to have any sort of review or even rating mechanism for podcasts at this point. But if you use Google Play Music (even if you usually listen to the podcast using some other method), I encourage you to go ahead and subscribe to the show on Google Play Music. That seems to be the only way to boost the profile of the show in this service.

Best I can tell to access this…one needs to be subscribed to the Google Play Music service to the tune of $9.99/mo.
I’ll stick with my Pocket Cast App.
I agree that the Google Play Music site is really confusing when it comes to how Podcasts fit in. There is both a free and a paid tier to Google Play Music. There is no charge to listen to Podcasts (at least not to our podcasts – I’m not sure how/if it handles premium podcasts that charge for access). And you have limited access to their music streams as well for free (there are ads and you can only skip so often). You can even upload up to 50,000 songs that you already own and stream your own content for free.
It gets confusing because they don’t seem to have any kind of consistent naming convention for the free service vs. the paid service, and it does appear that they require you to have a credit card on file in case you should choose to purchase music or a premium music service at some point in the future.
Yeah… definitely confusing. I can find the podcast if I log into Google Play Music in a browser, but not in the app. I’ve even verified that I’ve got the most current version of the app. Oh well, I’ll continue to download from the blog and take it with me so I don’t have to stream data anyway. I’ve subscribed for whatever that’s worth.
