Host: Aaron Rittmaster
On this Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens release weekend, the panel avoids spoilers by talking about the Prequel Trilogy. We discuss some of the overlooked strengths of these films, as well as their thoroughly dissected weaknesses. We provide an overview of the plots of the movies (so that you don’t have to re-watch them, if you’d prefer not to). And along the way, we poke a little fun at Jason Mitts, President of the Jar-Jar Binks Fan Club.* We even briefly discuss the “Darth Jar Jar” theory currently making the rounds on the Internet.
If seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens by next Sunday, December 27 at 7:00 p.m. Central Time (or don’t mind spoilers), join us for the December live show. We’ll start the show spoiler-free, but once we’ve discussed basic reactions, the rest of the show will be spoilerific – and we’ll open things up for listeners to join in on the Skype conversation. The live show will be broadcast as part of the beta testing of a new venture – DisTalk Radio. You’ll be able to listen in at http://distalkradio.com/, where you’ll also be able to find links for various streaming media players (and the chat system should also be up and running).
(Our apologies to the actual president of the real Jar-Jar Binks Fan Club, if such a thing really exists).
What are your memories of the prequel releases? What did the panel forget about? What did we get wrong? Were we too harsh on the prequels, or too forgiving? Tell us about it! The Jar Jar hat can be found on Etsy. The shop owner is on hiatus, but there probably wasn’t time to order one for Jason and have it arrive by Christmas anyway.
