USA Today published a list of “Best Amusement Park Restaurants” this past Monday, and five of the 16 restaurants on the list are from Walt Disney World. The article claims to rank the restaurants based on “variety of offerings, value, quality of food, and reflection of the park and/or associated ride’s theme.” The Walt Disney World restaurants that made the list were an interesting bunch – Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge takes the top spot on the list. Hollywood Brown Derby in Disney’s Hollywood Studios checks in at number four. Epcot landed number 6, Chefs de France; and number 9, La Hacienda de San Angel. Finally, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios rounds out Walt Disney World’s entries on the list at number 15.
I found this list to be surprising and, for lack of a better word, random. No Walt Disney Resort hotel signature restaurants on the list? No Be Our Guest Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom? No quick-service locations from Walt Disney World (counter service from other parks did show up on the list)? Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater? Really?
What do you think of their list? How do you think their choices will fare in our Munch Madness tournament?
At first I was going to say that’s a random set, but on closer inspection it appears to be a list of restaurants ranked based on their description by someone who hasn’t eaten at WDW.
I don’t remember how Boma faired, but I don’t think any of these things will stack up well.
Taste is subjective, so no one’s lists will ever look the same. Still, I doubt too many people would ever list the food at the Sci-Fi theater as being particularly memorable.
Boma = #1????
I find that more shocking than Sci-Fi being on the list.
I’ve enjoyed a meal at Mc Donald’s better than the meal I had a Boma.
Was glad to see a Dollywood restaurant recognized. ;o)
