The next topic in the DragynAlly’s April blogger challenge is about my favorite color. I don’t really know that I have a favorite color though, so I thought it might be more interesting to talk about how we ended up with the color scheme that we have here at DISDads.com.
Those of you who have been reading DISDads.com since the early days of the site may remember our original theme (coincidentally, tomorrow is the third anniversary of the first post here). That theme was full of Disney characters, which I realized early-on we couldn’t continue to use if the site was going to grow. The main colors of that theme were blue and white, as was our original logo (the one that Disney asked us to stop using, so I won’t post a picture of it here).
When it was clear that the blog needed a design overhaul, I was looking around at other Disney fan sites and noticed that almost all of the sites that I was reading regularly had blue and white as their primary theme colors. I figured, as long as we were changing things, we ought to have a color scheme that stands out from the crowd. That’s when I focused my attention on finding a red and white theme that I liked. Then came the logo contest and we continued on the red and white path with logos built on the traditional “Mickey” colors – red, yellow, black, and white.
So there it is. My favorite color for DISDads media is red. I think it helps us stand out in a sea of blue.
