Beercast X: Winter Beers – Episode 442

Beercast X: Winter Beers - Episode 442
Host: Aaron Rittmaster
Panel: Dave Juart, Don Donfris, Richard Grady, Justin West

The Beercast is back! The 10th installment in the Beercast series focuses on “Winter Beers” – heartier fare, like Porters, Stouts, and Barleywines. And we give our nod to Fall by trying some new pumpkin beers as well. We also introduce Dave’s new project, along with fellow DISDad John Peters, DisTalk Radio’s Weekly Pint Podcast. The Weekly Pint Podcast looks at beer at Walt Disney World a pint at a time – in shorter, 15-20 minute, episodes that come out on Thursdays. In addition to listening to it as a podcast, you can catch up on the Weekly Pint on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Central Time, when the entire Weekly Pint Podcast catalog will be streaming at DisTalkRadio.

What are some of your favorite Winter beers? Is there a pumpkin beer out there that’s worth trying? Tell us about it! Leave a comment here on the blog; Email us at podcast@disdads.com; tweet us at DisDadsPodcast on Twitter; and check out our DISDads Podcast Facebook page.

Please consider sharing your opinions about our podcasts with us. You can fill out DISDads Podcast Listener Survey anonymously if you prefer. But if you include your contact information, you’ll be entered to win a pair of DISDads Coffee Mugs, just like the ones in the DISDads Shop.

Beercast 9: IPA Invasion! – Episode 374

Beercast9Host: Aaron Rittmaster
Panel: Dave Juart, Richard Grady, Don Donfris

For Beercast 9 it was all IPAs, all the time. The panel sampled Goose Island IPA; New Belgium Ranger IPA; and several IPA versions from Ballast Point, including Sculpin, Grapefruit Sculpin, and Habanero Sculpin. We got our usual history/beer nerd notes from Dave, food pairing advice from Richard, and Don’s revelation that (despite being a frequent Beercast contributor) he’s allergic to hops!

What do you think of the panel’s takes? Do you have a favorite IPA that you enjoy at Walt Disney World that we haven’t discussed yet? Tell us about it! Beercast 8: Thanksgiving Beer – Episode 346

Beercast8Host: Aaron Rittmaster
Panel: Don Donfris, Richard Grady, Dave Juart, Justin West

We’re back! It’s been a while since we’ve brought you a Beercast, so we got the whole gang together for Beercast 8 to talk about beers to enjoy with your Thanksgiving dinner. This podcast focuses more on good stylistic choices to go with the typical Thanksgiving feast, and each panelist offers his take on samples from those styles. We also point out where at Walt Disney World you can find good examples of styles that would compliment a Thanksgiving feast.

What do you think of the panel’s choices? Do you have a favorite beer to serve with Thanksgiving dinner? Tell us about it! Email us at podcast@disdads.com; tweet us at DisDadsPodcast on Twitter; join in the online discussion of the podcasts on our DISDads Discussion Boards; and check out our DISDads Podcast Facebook page.

We’ve subtitled this edition of the DISDads Beercast, “We’ll have what Paul’s having” – referring, of course, to our most active community member in the Isles, Paul Lawson. For this Beercast, we sampled some of the standbys from the beer menu at Rose & Crown, at the UK Pavilion in Epcot. We started with Harp Lager, Bass Ale, and Guinness Stout. Popular and accessible, you’ll find them readily available locally if you’d like to drink along with us. We also tried pouring a proper Black and Tan and Half and Half (check out the video below for help with those).

Whatever your choice, grab a pint, maybe some bangers and mash or fish and chips, and pull up a stool to join in with our discussion of UK beers.

Cheers!

(And a special shout out to UK listener Gene, who serendipitously Emailed us about how much he’s been enjoying the show the same week that we recorded this episode).
