Happy 5th Birthday DISDads Podcast LIVE – Episode 376

BeerthdayHost: Aaron Rittmaster
Panel: Don Donfris, Jay Gilbert, Terry Hawkins, Joe Masters

On tonight’s live podcast, we celebrated our fifth birthday. We released our first show on February 27, 2011. It was overly long. I had NO idea what I was doing playing host. And thank God for our editor Josh, who definitely made us sound smarter than we were. We started off the show with a bit of nostalgia, reminiscing about some of our favorite shows. Then we shifted the discussion to the present, and discussed the ticket price increases that hit both Disneyland and Walt Disney World today. Finally, we wrapped up by looking ahead, with a brief discussion of the possibilities for the next DISDads Cruise, probably coming up in 2017. Oh – and I teased a new DISDad project coming soon, thanks to the hard work of David Juart. Soon, we’ll have another show from the DISDads, as David creates the DISDads Beercast Weekly Pint, which will be should be making its debut on DisTalk Radio in the next couple of months. Thanks for listening over the last five years – we’re looking forward to bringing you at least five more!

DAD Show #149 – Rittmaster Family Celebration at WDW

Chewacca group photoSorry for the late release folks. As you’ll hear, I ran into an unexpected production issue (I’ll get that second mic swapped out for the next time I’m using two mics “in studio”). I appreciate your patience, and hope the production quality doesn’t distract too much from the content, because I had a great time recording this trip report with my daughter Mikaela, talking about our recent trip to Walt Disney World in celebration of Mikaela’s Bat Mitzvah. We talk about her resort choice (Animal Kingdom Lodge), new restaurants we tried, new attraction experiences, special surprises, bringing a friend (who’s never traveled before, let alone been to Walt Disney World) and more!

The DAD Show is sponsored by Kingdom Strollers, Orlando’s Premium Stroller and Crib Rental source.

Have you ever brought one of your children’s friends with you on a Disney vacation? What tips and tricks do you have to share? Have a trip report you’d like to share? We’d love to hear about it! Beercast 9: IPA Invasion! – Episode 374

Beercast9Host: Aaron Rittmaster
Panel: Dave Juart, Richard Grady, Don Donfris

For Beercast 9 it was all IPAs, all the time. The panel sampled Goose Island IPA; New Belgium Ranger IPA; and several IPA versions from Ballast Point, including Sculpin, Grapefruit Sculpin, and Habanero Sculpin. We got our usual history/beer nerd notes from Dave, food pairing advice from Richard, and Don’s revelation that (despite being a frequent Beercast contributor) he’s allergic to hops!

What do you think of the panel’s takes? Do you have a favorite IPA that you enjoy at Walt Disney World that we haven’t discussed yet? Tell us about it! The Best Disney Movie Kisses – Episode 372

Lady-and-the-Tramp-kissHost: Aaron Rittmaster
Panel: James Cameron, Michael Ehmke, Shaun Harris

For this Valentine’s Day episode of the DISDads Podcast, we welcome a couple of guests to the show to help us create a DISDad-worthy list of the Best Disney Movie Kisses. We’re joined by Michael Ehmke of the We Be Geeks Network and the Mighty Marvel Geeks podcast and Shaun Harris of DLRtoday, as well as returning DISDads podcaster James Cameron (who is often reluctant, for some reason, to mention is own Disney blog, Home is Where the Mouse Is). Without sharing our selections in advance, we came up with a sort of top 20 list of Disney Kisses, with no repeats.

The DISDads Podcast is sponsored by Mouse Master Travel. Let a Mouse Master take care of the details of your next Disney Destination vacation, so you can focus on fun!

What do you think of the panel’s best kisses lists? What did we leave out? What’s your favorite Disney movie kiss? Tell us about it! Pre-opening Main Street U.S.A.This week on the DAD Show, Mark Harbeson talks about the value of a couples’ vacation at Walt Disney World. We discussed the particulars of Mark and his wife’s trip, including their stay in a new Deluxe Studio at the Polynesian resort, the finer points of the Yachtsman Steakhouse, enjoying the Walt Disney World holiday decorations, and getting to experience a backstage tour of the Magic Kingdom. But we also talked about the underlying importance of husbands and wives getting away together away from the kids.

The DAD Show is sponsored by Kingdom Strollers, Orlando’s Premium Stroller and Crib Rental source.
