Welcome back to the DISDads Podcast Midweek Destinations And Diversions Show. The DAD Show is your humpday vacation fix. Our intro and outro music was created and performed by Mitch Furman.
The DAD Show is sponsored by Kingdom Strollers, Orlando’s Premium Stroller and Crib Rental source.
This week the DAD Show talks with Mark Wysocki about his family’s Flower & Garden Festival vacation to Walt Disney World. We talk about touring the Disney parks with children with autism, working with the new DAS, navigating character meet and greets, and discuss the relative merit of Value resort food courts.
DISDad Sean is doing Pushups for Charity with the Boot Campaign, and I thought we in the DISDad community ought to assist him in his effort to raise money for this terrific cause. The Boot Campaign works to show appreciation for American troops, raise awareness of the challenges they face when they return home, and raises money to support their transition home.
How can you help? It’s easy, just make a donation via Sean’s Crowdrise donation link. Make a donation of at least $10.00 (and include your name, so we know you donated it) and you’ll automatically be included in a drawing for Thor: The Dark World on Blu-Ray 3D/Blu-Ray/Digital HD. You have two weeks to donate. The drawing will take place on Flag Day, Saturday, June 14, 2015 (the same day that Sean will be doing push-ups).
In order to ensure that we are fully compliant with state laws regarding giveaways/sweepstakes, we need to offer a method of entry that doesn’t cost anything. So if you want to enter the drawing for Thor: The Dark World, but you don’t want to donate to the Boot Campaign, you can enter by posting the following comment: “I (insert your name) am too cheap to donate even $10 to the Boot Campaign, but I still want to win the movie.”
1) One entry per person. You can donate as many times as you want, but you only get one entry.
2) Open to residents of the United States and Canada only.
3) The identity of the winner will be posted as a comment to this post on Saturday, June 14. The winner is responsible for contacting me within 48 hours to claim the prize. If the prize is unclaimed, another drawing will be conducted and a new winner designated (wash, rinse, repeat, until the prize is awarded).
4) I am the sole judge of this giveaway, and the decisions of the judge are final.
In Episode 192, the panel shares its favorite Disney live-action movies decade by decade, from the 1950s through the 2010s. Along the way they also share their opinions of some of the worst Disney films of each decade, as well as a few guilty pleasures. They drew their choices from a list of Disney movies on Wikipedia.
Thanks to Attractions Magazine for capturing the opening on video as DISDad Adam Dale and his family help open the theme park as Family of the Day for the #RockYourDisneySide 24-hour day at the Magic Kingdom.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this movie, Disney’s first big screen animated collaboration with Marvel. And even after this trailer, I’m not completely sure what to expect – but I like what I see. This looks fun – and I suspect that my 7-year-old son will LOVE it.
