DAD Show #225 is just a quick National Podcasters’ Day episode to apologize for the unannounced hiatus, and let you all know that we’ll be back to our usual release schedule starting with tomorrow’s panel show. Thank you for your patience!
I thought I’d brought the recording will me and could edit it during break time. Unfortunately, the copied file was corrupt, so it couldn’t be edited. I won’t be able to get access to the file again until Imreturn home.
Again, sorry for the delay. We’ll get the show back on track as quickly as possible around the middle of this week.
It’s the first round in the Pitmaster’s Region of the DISDads Walt Disney World Quick Service Dining Tournament. Episode 504 features Regional captain Justin West making the case for his top seed, Flame Tree Barbecue. The panel only deadlocked on one matchup – the poll to help settle that tie will be posted tomorrow morning. Please come back and cast your vote!
You can track the whole tournament at home using this spreadsheet.
What did you think of the panel’s choices? did they get any of the winners wrong? Leave a comment here on the blog; Email us at email@example.com; tweet us at DisDadsPodcast on Twitter; and check out our DISDads Podcast Facebook page.
If you enjoyed the podcast, we’d also really appreciate it if you took a moment to leave us a review on iTunes (If you didn’t enjoy the show, feel free to ignore that last link).

Next week, we’ll be LIVE with the first set of second-round matchups, looking at both The Beast Region and the Seafarer’s Region over at DisTalk Radio, starting at 7:00 p.m. Central Time on Sunday, June 4. Voting is still open to settle ties from those regions, but voting will close before the live show next Sunday.
Option 2 is just based on the numbers.
- 14 Magic Kingdom locations are in
- 13 Epcot locations
- 13 Resort hotel locations
- 12 Disney Springs locations
- 7 Animal Kingdom theme park and 5 Hollywood Studios locations would be distributed to the other regions as “wild cards”
Option 3 is the mathematical solution. Just treat the draft order as the seeding order, and construct a huge “S-Curve” from Pick 1 to Pick 64. This has the advantage of evenly distributing each captain’s picks, but leaves each region without a clear collective identity.
Summer is arriving, and at the DISDads Podcast, that means tournament time!
Each summer since 2012, we’ve brought you a different elimination tournament, with a different method of setting and organizing the field, and we’re back at it again this year at 7:00 p.m. Central Time on Sunday, May 7, with our first-ever Walt Disney World Quick Service Dining Tournament. We’ll start with a full field of 64 quick service restaurants, progressively narrowing the field over the next several weeks, until we reach the championship rounds for the July 2, 2017 live show.
For this Sunday’s live show, host Aaron Rittmaster will be joined by Terry Hawkins, Josh Shusterman, David Juart and Justin West, who will serve as “captains.” During the show, the captains will each be selecting 16 quick service restaurant locations, which will serve as their “team” for the tournament. Remember – if you want to participate in the chat, you’ll need to register at DisTalkRadio.com – we’ll get those accounts approved as quickly as possible.
