Disneyland:  August 13, 1954
Removal of walnut and orange trees begins the excavation of the future theme park’s site begins in Anaheim, California.
 
 
Walt Disney World:  August 13, 2004
Hurricane Charley hits Central Florida, with 110 mph winds.  All four theme parks, as well as the water parks and Downtown Disney area shops and restaurants close at 1 pm for guests and cast members to take shelter in the resorts.  It is the third time in its’ history that the Walt Disney World resort shuts everything down early.
