Today in Disney History

Walt Disney World:  July 22, 1994
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror opens on Sunset Boulevard at Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park.  This newest attraction is themed after the popular television seriesThe Twilight Zone”,created and hosted by Rod Serling from 1959-1964.  The attraction’s story takes place in the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel, a real structure built in 1929 in Hollywood, CA and an historic landmark on the US Department of the Interior’s list of historic landmarks.  A video montage of classic Rod Serling moments is artfully created to celebrate the creator of the series, as well as introduce theme park guests to the events yet to unfold during their stay in the hotel.
