Today in Disney History

Disneyland:  June 8, 2005

In honor of Disneyland’s 50th anniversary, The Walt Disney Company donates several “Disneyland artifacts” to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.  Amongst the donated items are a pair of classic ride vehicles from a pair of the park’s opening year attractions – an elephant from Dumbo the Flying Elephant and a tea cup from the Mad Tea Party.

  1. I was just there last year and saw the Dumbo exhibit. The kids noticeably perked up when they spotted it. I had to explain that they couldn’t get on and actually ride it, though.
