Today’s DragynAlly April blogger challenge topic is to write about a goal I’d like to accomplish. At the moment, I’m finding this a particularly difficult topic to tackle. Over the last year here at DISDads.com, we’ve accomplished at least two of the major goals I’d set for the site:
1. Make the DISDads Podcast a weekly show. We accomplished that last summer, with a big assist from Nate’s idea of the My Walt Disney World tournament. We then exceeded this goal earlier this month, when we started releasing episodes of the Midweek DAD Show, focusing on trip reports.
2. Hold an event at Walt Disney World where a big group of DISDads could meet face-to-face. We achieved that this past January, at the DISDads Convention. It was amazing to check-in for a group of 40 at Whispering Canyon Cafe!
So what’s next for DISDads.com? Having accomplished two major goals this past year, I figured it was reasonable to set two new major goals for the upcoming year:
1. Publish at least one blog post per week written by a DISDad other than me. We’ve had DISDads contribute some excellent content to the site, and I’d like to see that be a more regular occurrence.
2. Create an annual DISDads.com event. At this point, it looks like we may not have an official “Convention” at Walt Disney World in 2014. I’ve not given up completely, but the logistics are looking problematic. None of the proposed convention ideas has garnered sufficient critical mass of support to be worth proceeding. I’ll see if I can find a way to pull something together. But I’m starting to focus more on looking ahead to 2015 and developing a long-term plan for an annual event.
Who’s up to the challenge of helping DISDads.com achieve those goals? Are there other goals we should consider setting for our community?
