A few weeks ago, my mom became ill on our last day, but she was a trooper and made it through MK so my DD would have a better time.

How about losing valuables at the park/resort? I left my backpack containing all our tickets, my wallet, and camera at a resort bus stop. What a disaster! Ha! Fortunately, I got it back with all items intact.

  3. DEA says:

I’ll check “illness,” but the most disruptive thing was really being airlifted by Coast Guard helicopter from Castaway Cay to Nassau. That really shook up our plans.

Double ear infection on the first day. Talk about rough. Try the teacups with that ailment…I did.

I voted for two, weather and other. For weather, in rained in Disneyland Paris, I mean, monsoon rained, all day! rides were closed, shows were closed, cats sleeping with dogs.

The other was when my daughter lost her wallet with all her money and the kids gift cards on our 2nd day of a 9 day trip. We helped her out, but still, it put a damper on the trip. Kind of like Paris. LOL

Would being in Disney when hurricane Charlie came whipping through closing the parks and causing a lock down in the resort be considered a weather disaster?

Either way it was coo the kids thought it was neat being there for it and we are still alive so yea it was cool.

If 9/11 counts as “other”… business conference at the Yacht/Beach Club kind of came to a standstill.

I don’t think Tropical Storm Ike was a disaster, just a lot of heavy rain. But as soon as it passed, we went to MK and nothing was more than a 20 minute wait!

travel disaster (caused by weather). flight down canceled due to blizzard while on plane. stuck in airport overnight, then had to dig car out of parking lot and drive to Florida from NY.

Same trip, illness. Needed to take daughter to Centra Care for ear infection.

Illness – One year we went and my sister had stomach issues the whole week. Later found out she has a gluten allergy.

Transportation – Once had a breakdown and spent all morning sitting at a car dealership in northern Florida. That was fun.

Weather – We were staying at the Villas at Disney Institute, I think in 1998. We were at EPCOT and a nasty storm rolled through. We stayed in the park and enjoyed it, but when we got back to the resort there were rumors that a tornado had gone through and there were “relocated” stop lights and trees down in the streets. This really wasn’t a disaster, but we were kind of nervous hoping that our room and our vehicle were still intact.

All in all, I think we’ve been fortunate so far *knocking on wood*.

Stayed tied up over night at Port Canveral on the Dream. Hurricane force winds and high seas. Glad we did. Another Cruiseline went out and sustained damage to the ship and had 13 injuries onboard.
