Poll: My Walt Disney World, Round 1 – Donald Group

The poll below covers the first round of the Donald Group, the podcast for which will be posted this coming Sunday.

Just as a reminder, the goal here is to identify those experiences that make Walt Disney World what it is for DISDads and our families. It’s a little more complicated than just choosing our favorite ride or restaurant. You’ll hear how the panel decided on Sunday, but here’s your chance to cast your vote (which you can compare to the panel’s choices after the podcast is released). Which of these matchups made it hardest for you to choose a winner? How did you pick your winners? Tell us about it in the comments. (Please ignore the extra check-boxes – that was the only way to put a space between each matchup. Please cast one vote for each matchup).

Which are your picks for the first round of the Donald Group?

  1. I’m kind of depressed that I had to pick between my current favorite (Rock n rollercoaster) and my sentimental favorite based on the 80’s version (Imagination). I used to love Figment just about as much as Mickey Mouse.

By the way… it really was no contest based on the revisions since Dreamfinder got fired.

  2. Surprised that Festival of the Lion King is only an 8 seed. Hands down the best show on Disney property.

  3. Some tough matchups here… sometime nostalgia won out, sometimes not. I’m not surprised to see that the “Movie Ride” is currently taking a good “Dole Whipping”, but the question is… can this groups tropical Cinderella, beat out the mighty “Wishes” to get into the Sweet-16 (or do I have my brackets misaligned)?

  4. Man this one was hard. TTA vs Jungle Cruise. I had to pick Jungle Cruise but TTA is still one of my favorites.

  5. I am surprised to see Great Movie Ride ranked so highly. I am having a hard time understanding how that could beat Dole Whip, then again I was surprised by the picks on the last Disdads podcast. So you never know.

Would have thought Dumbo would be higher. And even me as a big AK fan am surprised to see the Tree of Life at #3. Would have expected ~#8 for that.

  6. Kevin…here’ how to look at it. This was not an exact science. the way I collected my data was thru forum threads. So when I posted the poll for MK… Things like Space Mt, Splash Mt, Pirates, etc… made the list because they were almost always listed. Dumbo was not…in fact Dumbo barely mde the cut.

I think things like Peter Pan, Dumbo and the like fell down the list because they were NOT what pop into peoples minds when they thought MK.

Now on the flipside… Hollywood Studios has a limited number of attractions and the (not so) Great Movie Ride was mentioned frequently in the Studios Tread. Same goes for the Tree at AK. fewer attractions means more votes.

  7. The Tree of Life got a tough draw. Starting to become a trend for the high seeds at AK. I’ve got to go with Dumbo though.

The one that is starting to stand out in the voting to me is TTA vs. Jungle Cruise. It is still close, but I really thought this one would have been pretty much dead even.

Apparently I must need to stay around AK one of these days after lunch to see FOTLK. If it is better than Flame Tree, then I’m I must be missing out.
