  1. Half of the Disney World experience to me centers around dining. That’s why I voted for free dining. I know it’s not the biggest savings (since room rates usually go up to compensate for the free dining), but something about getting “free food” feels good. LOL

  2. I think I answered wrong based on the way the question was asked. I answered room discounts as that has the biggest impact on the vacation we book, but room discounts by themselves don’t cause us to book vacations.

  3. We currently use our DVC points, but when an offer comes up for room only discounts, we will book that and bank DVC points to next year. We also get to try out other non DVC resorts this way as well.

  4. I voted for none. Life dictates when/if we can take a vacation, but as far as promotions go, I prefer room rate discounts, hands down.

Stay 3, get 1 might pencil out… don’t know, but we’d end up staying more than 4 days if we do go, so I’d have to do the math.

Free Dining isn’t something I’ve ever taken advantage of, but it was going on during our last trip and I’ve decided I will avoid planning a trip during free dining. It just makes eating and getting ADR’s ridiculous.

  5. OK, I think I confused the issue here with the language of the post that is linked to this poll. Sorry about that. Ultimately, there are lots of factors that go into a decision about when to take a vacation, and discounts are not the deciding factor. BUT, among the options out there, I find the room discount offers to be the most enticing. We can find ways to economize on food and still enjoy a Disney vacation. On the other hand, room discounts give us the opportunity to enjoy resorts that might otherwise be out of our price range at the time in question.

  6. It really depends on what’s available when I want to go, but we’ve planned our last 2 trips around low crowds and free dining, so I voted for that option. I’ve been happy to use hotel discounts in the past as well.

  7. Aaron, you hit the nail right on the head. We’re typically a value resort family. We just don’t see the value in spending a lot of extra money on a more upscale resort. We were able to stay in Wilderness Lodge last month and do so within our budget due to the fact that we were able to get a discounted room rate. Had it not come along, there’s no way we would have stayed in a deluxe resort, and I’m not even sure I could have convinced DW to even consider WDW as our vacation destination.

  8. We book around the “projected” free dining. Our last 4 years have been a gamble that has paid off…except in October. Sure they had the free dining promo but the week we were there was a blackout week. But Im Not Bitter!!!!!
